Off to new sound shores!
For many decades, Stax has been setting standards in music reproduction via headphones. With the new SRM-270S driver amplifier and the SR-X1 headphones, the Japanese company is now making a large part of the exceptional sound experience of its top models available to a wider audience.

The SRM-270S is of course particularly suitable for the new SR-X1 - the first Stax entry-level headphones with round electrostats. It features high-quality RCA sockets that guarantee the best signal quality for the amplifier's sophisticated circuitry and a three-millimetre-thick aluminium front panel that simply feels fantastically solid.

To achieve particularly effective heat dissipation, Stax has enlarged the extruded aluminium housing. The latest low-noise FET has been selected for the first stage of the amplifier and a brush emitter follower circuit has been used in the output stage. PARALLEL OUT connectors are installed for the input, allowing easy connection to your hi-fi system.

The new Stax entry-level model SR-X1 is based on the traditional round ear speakers and adds modern design concepts. The electrostatic driver is equipped with a newly designed medium-sized round unit and sounds absolutely neutral. Unlike its predecessors, the cone sits directly in the housing, allowing Stax to further minimise the "seams" between the individual parts. This explains the increased precision and razor-sharp imaging focus of the new SR-X1.

The open, slotted structured housing has an uneven thickness and a gently curved shape to allow sound waves to pass through smoothly and reduce distortion.

Revised arch design and improved fit.
The use of metal material for the frame structure prevents unnecessary resonance. Stax has also significantly improved the rigidity of the bow assembly, which is all too often neglected in this price range. At the same time, the SR-X1 remains light enough to prevent fatigue even during prolonged listening. The ear pads are made of soft sheepskin. Underneath is a new type of memory foam, which further improves the fit and wearing comfort.
