With the album ‘I/O’, the former Genesis singer conquers the music world once again. Since 1975, the beginning of his successful solo career with ‘Solsbury Hill’, he has received numerous awards, including the Grammy and the Polar Music Prize.

‘I/O’ is his first album of new songs since “Up” in 2002, further raising the expectations of his fan base around the world. Over the course of 2023, Gabriel released a new song from the album for each full moon, saying: ‘It's a bit like getting a Lego brick every month’. This refers to the process of creating the album, which he compares to a puzzle.

The album is an impressive collection of intelligent and thought-provoking songs that deal with themes such as life, the universe and our connection to the world. The title track ‘I/O’ reflects the feeling of being a part of everything, while other songs deal with the passing of time, mortality, grief and social issues such as injustice and surveillance. Yet the mood of the album is never sombre, but musically adventurous, with an upbeat flavour and a message of hope.
